Energetic Conduits – Exhibition by Leigh Bridges

For Plan Z in Altea Spain, Bridges will present two new works that address ideas of functionalism and design in art in addition to notions central to modernist form, landscape and backyard Do-It-Yourself technology. “DIY Gathering Tool”, a stack of take-away posters consisting of a pop-out schematic of an imagined solar energy collecting mechanism, provides the viewer the option of following the printed instructions to assemble the prototype solar technology. “Solar Array”, a projected animation depicting the transportation, unfolding and installation of a solar energy collecting device in a northern landscape, locates an abstracted schematic in proximity to a naturalistic reflection of the surroundings.

Opening: Tuesday March 26, 6pm

About Plan Z

Plan Z is an exhibition project driven by the School of Fine Arts Altea, Miguel Hernández University, Elche (Facultad de Bellas Artes de Altea, Universidad Miguel Hernández de Elche) in collaboration with the City of Altea, Spain. The project suggests the digital medium as a tool to increase the distribution of art creations, favouring the information transfer and expanding the distribution channels for artwork. Expositions that are to take part in Plan Z must be designed such that their assembly and production can be carried out without the direct intervention of the artist, just having as a starting point the artwork in digital format and the instructions provided by the artist.

A digital catalog featuring an essay by curator José Vicent Martin Martinez will be forthcoming.
