Dalnavert is looking for an Intern Curator!
The Association of Manitoba Museums writes:
Intern Curator (YCW-BCH position)
22 weeks (110 days), 30 hrs/wk, $15.00 hourly wage
September 21, 2017 – March 25, 2018
This is an exciting time to join the Friends of Dalnavert Museum. We are an equal opportunity employer and encourage applications from all qualified candidates. Interested persons will have to complete an online YCW-BCH Candidate Eligibility Form prior to hiring. This internship is subject to approved funding from YCW.
Founded in 2015 when the Manitoba Historical Society closed Dalnavert Museum, the Friends of Dalnavert Museum Inc. now own and operate this heritage cultural facility with nearly 5,000 artifacts in its collection with a focus on the decorative arts.
The Intern Curator will be involved in the set up and launching of exhibitions and displays at Dalnavert Museum & Visitors’ Centre, the mansion erected by Sir Hugh John Macdonald, the only surviving son of John A. Macdonald, in the heart of historic downtown Winnipeg. Built in 1897, Dalnavert is a designated Municipal, Provincial and National Historic Site. Come join us in welcoming visitors to the beautifully furnished rooms and period gardens, with new programs and exhibits, showcasing the behind-the-scenes lives of Sir John A. Macdonald’s son and grandchildren and exploring Canada’s booming prairie town, Winnipeg, the “Gateway to the West,” at the turn of the 20th century.
