U of M School of art’s own Technician, Chris Pancoe selected to team up with snow and ice sculpting experts to make Kapoor’s “Stackhouse”!

World-renowned artist Anish Kapoor, whose sculptures are in public places around the globe, is creating a warming hut that will be featured this winter along Winnipeg’s river trail.

Kapoor, best known for his large-scale public projects, including Chicago’s Cloud Gate, is designing a piece made entirely of ice blocks called Stackhouse.

anish-kapoor-sculptureU of M School of art’s own Technician, Chris Pancoe was selected to be a part of the team comprised of snow and ice sculpting experts including world renowned ice carver Luca Roncoroni of Norway. Chris will be contributing his unique skill set and experience sculpting with ice and snow to make Kapoor’s “Stackhouse” come to life. Come out see the progress. Construction begins Jan 12th and is scheduled to finish Jan 27th.
