CALL TO VISUAL ARTISTS
Open to all painters, sculptors, assemblage artists, photographers, fabric artists, potters, printmakers – this is for professionals, amateurs and Sunday artists.

Friday 28 April 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. (opening reception and speaker)
Saturday 29 April 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Sunday 30 April 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Drop off is Tuesday 25 April between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. (or by arrangement)
Pick up is 30 April between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Artist attendance is not required but certainly welcomed. We request that pieces for sale are marked as such and that contact information is provided. CFRUC will not be handling sales transactions.
Deadline for submission: 1 April, 2017.
Artfest is an initiative at CFRUC to better engage surrounding community with the people of CFRUC and advances a long standing tradition of including the Arts both in our activities as a congregation but also in the use of our building. Artfest is a five- week festival with theatre, dancers, musicians, writers, poets and visual artists. (see page 3)
For this event, CFRUC seeks submissions from visual artists across several disciplines who wish to be considered through a committee selection process.
Artist Eligibility: Artists must reside in Manitoba.
Number: We have no minimum number of pieces required (other than one) nor will we give an advantage to those who submit more.
Selection Criteria: Artist applications will be considered on the basis of the following as made evident through a letter of interest and support materials:
- Interest in our theme of ‘The Road Less Taken’
- Suitability of the work to this event and to the collection as a whole
- Ready for hanging/display
- Only pieces selected by Artfest’s Selection Committee will be displayed
Selection Process: A panel comprised of people with experience in art will review the applications and select a number of artists to become part of a roster. It is anticipated that the initial selection process will take place in April 2017 with a response to you from the committee by 10 April.
Submission Format: Artist selection will be based on a written expression of interest and support material. Your submission should be no longer than two pages and is not meant to be onerous in any way. Shorter than two pages is just fine!
Please include in your letter the following:
- Brief description of your artistic practice
- Relevance to the theme of ‘The Road Less Taken’
- Other (please feel free to include thoughts not covered by the other sections)
Please also attach pictures of the work you would like to be considered, its dimensions and media. Also, indicate if you wish to bring display equipment e.g., easel. (some will be available) If you wish to send a CV please do so but it is not required.
Security: CFRUC’s Visual arts committee will be in attendance throughout the show and will safeguard the artwork to the best of their ability. The work will never be left unattended when the church is open i.e., during Sunday worship.
Insurance: All property brought to CFRUC is the responsibility of the owner/exhibitor.
Artists will be asked to sign a short letter of understanding indicating their agreement to the terms and conditions of the show.
