ABOUT THE MANITOBA INDIGENOUS EDUCATION BLUEPRINT
The Manitoba Collaborative Indigenous Education Blueprint For Universities, Colleges and Public School Boards: Making Excellence in Indigenous Education contains 10 key commitments aimed at taking a strength-based approach to achieving excellence for Indigenous students improving educational outcomes from early education to post-secondary levels. The Blueprint is designed to meet the diversity of needs and celebrate the unique contributions of all Indigenous students of the Anishnaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dene, Dakota, Inuit and Métis Nations.
This Blueprint will be implemented through a 5-Year Implementation Plan (2017 to 2021) aimed at achieving Indigenous
student success, including participation in the labour market upon graduation, through 4 main objectives: Increasing collaboration of all educational institutions and partners in Indigenizing education from early education to the post-secondary levels; Increasing access to education for all Indigenous learners from recruitment to retention; Undertaking research and mobilizing Indigenous knowledge; and Improving data collection to measure and evaluate Indigenous learner success.
