On Wednesday, June 22, Prof. Oliver A. I. Botar will be one of three speakers invited to present at “Moholy-Nagy: Art for a New Century,” a public symposium being organized at the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
The symposium, which concerns the effect that Moholy-Nagy has had and continues to have on contemporary artistic practices is being organized in conjunction with the major exhibition being organized at the Guggenheim Museum: “Moholy-Nagy: Future Present”
Prof. Botar will be speaking about the artists he invited to produce works for his exhibition “Sensing the Future: Moholy-Nagy, Media and the Arts,” shown at Plug In ICA (Winnipeg) and at the Bauhaus-Archiv/Museum for Design (Berlin) in 2014-15.
In addition, Botar is one of three academics invited to present at “Scholar’s Day” (June 23), where he will lead a group of about 30 invited scholars through the exhibition’s section dealing with the Moholy-Nagy’s early works. He will also moderate a subsequent discussion.
